Professor Bo Tao Fan

The CMTPI 2007 meeting is dedicated to the memory of Professor Bo Tao Fan, our colleague and friend who successfully organized the CMTPI 2005 meeting in Shanghai.

Pr. Fan was among the pioneers in using the support vector machines in QSAR and Drug Design and has authored a lot of papers on this subject. He was also particularly interested in the design of QSAR and QSPR models from artificial neural networks.

Pr. Fan died on the 22nd of October 2006, aged only 49 after a fight with cancer, leaving his wife and two daughters. He will be much missed by all who knew him.
